Who: Shadow Box Players is a non-profit theatre company serving Siskiyou County. Our mission is to present both original and traditional pieces that confront, celebrate and make soar the human spirit. Through quality live theatre, outreach programs and classes we enrich the community, encourage artistic expression and provide jobs for local artists. SBP has been serving the community for the past six years.
What: Half Hour Hamlet, Siskiyou County 2008-09 touring show, written and directed by Jason Gigliotti, Featuring: Anthony Green, Krista Miller, Tim Rickman and Sandra Winslow
When: Starting October 3, 2008 at Mt. Shasta City Park for Family Fun Night. 7:30pm performance
Where: The touring show will visit ten Siskiyou County cities performing at the various community Family Fun Nights during 2008-2009.
About the Show: The touring production is being funded by a grant from FIRST 5 Siskiyou County organization.
Half-Hour Hamletis a comedic, cliff notes version of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. This 40-minute adaptation uses laughter to bridge the gap between method and madness. Using comedy of both the “high” and “low” brow varieties, we can create a climate that invites everyone into the tent. We start from the position that some people just don’t get Shakespeare and then work toward an ideal that everyone, including young children, can, if only you give them a reason to want to. We invite the audience to join us as we poke fun at Shakespeare, his characters and in doing so ourselves. Join us as we put the “ham” back in Hamlet! Performed by 5 professional actors and complete with portable set and costumes, it is great first introduction to live theatre for all ages. The show toured successfully in the Bay Area for two years and has been performed at the Mt. Shasta City Park, The Ski Park, as well as City Parks in Weed, Dunsmuir and McCloud.
